The Maximilian-Bodmer Project is the collaborative product of many individuals at the Joslyn Art Museum, Creighton University, and the Nebraska Indian Community College, as well as tribal and cultural leaders throughout the upper Missouri River region. Project Leadership

Simon Appleford
Simon Appleford

Simon Appleford is Associate Professor of History at Creighton University and Associate Director of the Creighton Digital Humanities Initiative. He is the author of Drawing Liberalism: Herblock’s Political Cartoons in Postwar America (University of Virginia Press) and co-author of DevDH.org, an online resource for digital humanities project development.

Annika Johnson
Annika Johnson

Annika Johnson is the Stacy and Bruce Simon Curator of Native American Art at Joslyn Art Museum where she is developing installations, programming, and research initiatives in collaboration with Indigenous communities. Her recent exhibitions include Wendy Red Star: The Indian Congress and Faces from the Interior: The North American Portraits of Karl Bodmer.

Wynema Morris
Wynema Morris

Wynema Morris is a member of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska and lives on the Omaha Reservation at Walthill. She is an active speaker and teacher regarding traditional, historical and political issues of American Indians. She is an Adjunct Professor in Native American Studies at the Nebraska Indian Community College.

Adam Sundberg
Adam Sundberg

Adam Sundberg is Associate Professor of History and Digital Humanities at Creighton University. He is a specialist in environmental history, historical geographic information systems, and disasters in early modern Europe.  He is the author of Natural Disaster at the Closing of the Dutch Golden Age (Cambridge, 2022).

Thomas Busciglio-Ritter
Thomas Busciglio-Ritter

Thomas Busciglio-Ritter is the Richard & Mary Holland Assistant Curator of American Western Art at Joslyn Art Museum. A graduate from the doctoral program in Art History at the University of Delaware, his research focuses on 19th-century landscape art, racial relations, and transatlantic circulations.

Ingrid Cho
Ingrid Cho

Ingrid Cho (Q’eqchi' Maya) is the Curatorial Assistant for Native American Art at Joslyn Art Museum where she assists with programming and exhibitions. She is a graduate of the University of South Dakota's Department of Anthropology and Native American Studies program. She holds a certificate in geographic information systems.

Ann Mausbach
Ann Mausbach

Ann Mausbach is Associate Professor for Educational Leadership at Creighton University. She served as a central office leader for over 20 years. She is the co-author of four books on leadership and school improvement.
