Shortly before noon on May 23, the Janus passed Lizard Lighthouse off the coast of Cornwall. Bodmer later produced a finished watercolor of this famous landmark based in part upon other extant views. In the afternoon the ship passed the entrance to the harbor of Falmouth on England's southwestern coast
