November 16, 1832

This morning like yesterday. At seven thirty, -4°R [23°F, -5°C]. At noon, very pleasantly warm. In the afternoon I went into Mr. Maclure’s big orchard and there found bluebirds, which are said often to remain here all winter, just like our robin. Mr. Lesueur was indisposed because of a foot injury. Mr. Bodmer paid a visit to Mr. Owen. Dr. Dake gave me instructions regarding my ailment. He is leaving again tomorrow. Mr. Twigg came late in the evening to tell me this.
