Night windy; [in the] morning, cold, cloudy; at seven thirty, 17°F [−8.3°C]. Snow about ten o’clock. Wind west. The river rose overnight, [perhaps] one foot. Síh-Sä was drawn today. At noon, 31°F [−0.6°C]. Wind west. The Hidatsas are supposed to have come across a Sioux tent and killed all [the] inhabitants. In the evening, little wind. I spent today and yesterday in bed. [In the] afternoon, snow. Evening calm.
