Very brisk wind. The sky was cloudy. Six large Procellaria flew around the ship. At eight o’clock we made nine knots. At noon we were north of the Western Islands, latitude 48°11′, longitude 25°40′. At noon we saw a ship in a southwesterly direction. Little wind in the afternoon; in the evening, completely calm. The loosely hanging sails were taken down. Night calm. Wind today [from the] south- west and north.
