At three thirty in the morning, the stagecoach arrived in front of our inn, and we boarded it. Six more persons joined us before the office, and the seats became very crowded. Once again we traveled through the area we had already seen several times, again observed all kinds of interesting animals, and shortly after noon reached [tooltips keyword=”Freiburg” content=”As I hear, the name Freiburg is now to be changed to Cooper, after the first landowner in this town, our landlord’s father, who founded the first settlement here.”, where I took lodging for several days. Immediately after lunch Mr. Bodmer went out with the shotgun, and we immediately obtained robins (Turdus migratorius), kingbirds (Muscicapa tyrannus), woodpeckers, and other birds.
