In the morning, clear, calm, and cold. At seven thirty, −27°F [−32.8°C]. Wind west. The sun appeared very bright; [the] weather about noon [was] pleasant—meaning cold but clear and calm. Durand visited us. Charbonneau gave me some information about the Hidatsas. At twelve o’clock, −15°F [−26.1°C]. Wind west. In the evening, calm and moonlit. No Indian came to our place, a rare instance (Síh-Sä alone; [he] is always in the fort).
